City of Calgary, September 1, 2017 – Sales posted a modest gain in August, but a rise in new listings kept inventory levels elevated. Inventories totaled 6,624 units, where over half were comprised of attached and apartment style properties. While inventories were 16 per cent higher than August 2016 levels, the slight rise in sales prevented further gains in the monthsof-supply, which remain just above four months. Mid year real estate forecast for Calgary
After the first half of the year, the economic climate in Alberta appears to be shifting from recession to recovery, with oil prices improving from monthly lows of $30 US per barrel last year to an expected average of $49 this year. While the shift is a welcome change, the pace of recovery is expected to be slow, as economic conditions are supporting stability rather than expansion. What you should know about protecting your eyes on August 21st
Even brief viewing of a partial solar eclipse without protection can cause damage. Because the light is dimmer in a partial eclipse, our eyes don’t receive the feedback mechanism from our brains to remind us that this light is harmful. Even viewing a partial eclipse with polarized sunglasses on can give you the equivalent of a welder’s painful flash burn on your cornea in a matter of a few seconds. As well, in less than 15 to 20 seconds, a hole can be burned into your eye’s macula. Although painless, you could be left with a permanent central spot of blur in your vision. Our entire family wears glasses so we are passionate about eye protection! We hope you enjoy the eclipse. Wishing you all the best from Doug, Susan and Kristen – a family Team selling real estate in Calgary for 40 years. For full report click HERE.

Calgary real estate market update – Housing recovery remains a work-in-progres
Market sees modest inventory gains, but overall prices inch up Jul. 2017. City of Calgary, August 1, 2017 – Sales exhibited stable growth through the first half of the year in the Calgary housing market, but the number of transactions slowed slightly in July compared to last year. City-wide sales totaled 1,637 units, six per cent below July 2016 levels. Year-todate sales activity totaled 11,957 units, nine per cent above last year. “Sales growth exceeded expectations so far this year. Clients were re-entering the market after delaying decisions until there were some signs of economic improvement,” said CREB® president David P. Brown. “However, this recovery will require patience. There continues to be many new and resale ownership options available. This reduces the sense of the urgency for many consumers.” … For the full report CLICK HERE.
