Calgarians remember fallen soldiers

More than 2,800 crosses put up on Memorial Drive

Volunteers spent the weekend putting up more than 2,800 crosses along Memorial Drive to remember Canada’s fallen soldiers.
The annual event raises awareness and support of the Calgarians that have fallen while serving Canada.
Organizer Laura Vanderkruk’s father, George Bittman started the display four years ago.
“It’s hard today because I’m thinking so much of my dad,” Vanderkruk said. “He was so passionate about this project. But it’s incredible, I’m just so moved by all of the people that came out to help and those crosses look amazing.”
The crosses on Memorial Drive (red circle below) will be up until the day after Remembrance Day. If you are visiting this display, do not hesitate to drop by our office (starred below) to say hi!
