Everything you ever wanted to know about Calgary

Ever curious about what our current population is? (1,235,171). What does “Calgary” stand for? (Gaelic for “clear running water”). In 1988, Calgary became the first Canadian city to host the Winter Olympic Games (I preformed in the opening ceremonies…. yes I am dating myself). When was oil first discovered in Alberta? (1902).  The Calgary census metropolitan area (CMA) had a crime severity index of 60.4 in 2013, which is lower than the national average of 68.7. A Winter Wonderland at your Doorstep!

Calgarian’s are blessed to have so many different options to choose from when deciding where to ski on the weekend. This article by Avenue Magazine shares 14 different ski resorts that you can hop in your car and drive to for the day. I had not skied since my early 20’s and decided to take it up again in my late 30’s. Honestly I was terrified that this was a big mistake but it was one of the best decisions I have made. It truly is a winter wonderland not to be missed when at the top of a ski hill ready to enjoy the thrill of heading down the hill. Practicing real estate now in Calgary for decades, our family team is always so proud of the numerous amenities we have within driving distance from our beautiful city. We wish all the locals and tourists that visit our lovely province this year and fun and fabulous winter! Click HERE or on the photo to find out where the 14 ski locations are!

Wondering what is on Stage this Christmas season in Calgary?

There is never a better time to attend a cultural and artist event then in December! So many wonderful things to see. Of course my personal favorite has been the Nutcracker put on by the Alberta Ballet. I was blessed with the opportunity of touring with the Alberta Ballet as an apprentice as a young woman. In fact, at a VERY young age I even joined the production as one of the “rats” :).  Perhaps not a little girls dream but I loved it. Avenue magazine has an informative article that I will share that gives you all the details you need to know about what to do in Calgary over the holiday season! We love our city and most of all embrace meeting new people and having the opportunity to engage in new relationships with our fellow Calgarian’s or those thinking of moving to this outstanding city.
